More than Just a Workout

Healthy Habits Trail Challenge

Your Complete Guide (April–October)

If you’ve been looking for a simple, fun reason to get outside and move more—without joining a gym, buying gear, or following a complicated plan—this is it.

The Healthy Habits Trail Challenge is a community walking series hosted by the O’Fallon–Shiloh Chamber of Commerce Health & Wellness Committee. From April through October, we’ll feature one local park each month and invite you to walk, scan, and earn a completion badge. Easy, free, and family-friendly.

What Is the Healthy Habits Trail Challenge?

It’s a 7-month, 7-park walking series designed to help our community build healthier habits through consistent movement.

Each month includes:

  • A featured park/trail
  • A monthly wellness theme
  • A QR code sign at the park you scan to “stamp” your virtual passport and earn your badge

You can participate any day, any time during that month.

How It Works (3 Simple Steps)

  1. Go to the featured park for the month
  2. Walk the trail (your pace, your distance—make it yours)
  3. Scan the QR code on the Healthy Habits sign to check in and earn your badge

✅ That’s it.

Important tip:

📱 Bring your phone with you on the trail.
The QR code is on the sign at the park—if your phone is in the car, you won’t be able to check in.

What Counts as “Completion”?

If you show up and move—you’re doing it right.

  • Walk the full loop, walk half, walk 10 minutes, push a stroller, go with friends, take breaks—this challenge is about consistent habits, not perfection.
  • When you’re done, scan the QR code and complete the quick check-in form.
  • You’ll immediately receive your digital completion badge.

Tips for a Great Experience

Here are a few ways to make this challenge enjoyable and easy:

  • Bring your phone on the trail so you can scan the QR code.
  • Go at your pace. This is not a race.
  • Invite a friend. Accountability makes habits stick.
  • Make it a routine. Same day each week, same time—simple wins.
  • Hydrate and dress for the weather. Especially in summer months.
  • Take a photo. Not required, but it’s fun to look back on your progress.
