Self-Care – It’s Not Just a Buzzword
It is Love Love month! (aka – February)
If any of you know Doreen at all, she loves love!! All things pink and red, all things stuffed and cuddly, all things that invoke the touchy-feelies.
And this month that we look to love, we want to encourage you to ask, “how am I showing love?”
I know we are going deep in this month’s email. So before we pull out Frued and his frolics, let’s keep it to the basics.
We all know that self-care (self-love) has been the hot buzzword of the last few years, but what does that mean to you?
At Studio Strong, our perspective is that achieving the best care and health for our bodies (and minds) is the best self-care.
So how are you taking care of yourself?
Self-care for health and well-being in 2023 can include a variety of activities such as:
- Eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated.
- Regular exercise and physical activity
- Getting enough sleep
- Managing stress through techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises
- Making time for hobbies and activities that bring joy
- Staying connected with loved ones and building a support system
- Regular check-ups with a healthcare provider
- Avoiding risky behavior such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption. It’s also important to remember that self-care can look different for different people, and what works for one person may not work for another. It’s essential to find what works best for you and make it a routine.
You may already be doing all of these or have them scheduled. If so, let us be the first to congratulate you on prioritizing your self-care.
For many of us, however, adding one more thing to our schedules or routines is anxiety-producing. So how can we even start?
May we suggest implementing only one of the suggestions above at a time? I know; they all sound amazing. However, if we get overloaded, we will not benefit from any.
Consider this your reminder to take a hard look at how you love yourself. Are you in good habits and routines, or will you implement changes starting today?
If you struggle to keep yourself on task, consider hiring one of our team to help you.
