STEP ONE, STEP TWO: WHAT STYKU AND DEXAFIT ACTUALLY TELL YOU
People ask me all the time which scan they should do. Styku or DexaFit. Here’s the honest answer.
Do both. Just know what each one is actually for.

Step one is your fancy bathroom scale on steroids
That’s basically what Styku is now. Except it actually knows what it’s talking about.
You’ve probably got a smart scale at home. Steps on, gives you a body fat percentage that bounces around depending on how much water you drank that morning. Styku is that idea, upgraded. Thirty-five seconds standing on a platform instead of a scale, and instead of one shaky number, you get a real read on where you stand.
We just updated ours. The new version adds postural analysis, so it can tell you if one hip or shoulder is doing more work than the other. It flags injury risk. And the body composition math underneath it got rebuilt too, calibrated directly against DEXA data, landing within one to two percent of the real thing in validation studies.
That’s genuinely close. Close enough to act on, set a goal against, and actually track over months.
Where it can’t go all the way is bone health. Styku estimates bone mass. It’s not measuring density the way a real bone scan does. And the disease risk flags it gives you are based on your body shape, a statistical pattern, not a diagnosis and not blood work. Worth paying attention to. Not the final word.
Step two is DexaFit
This is the upgrade to Styku the same way Styku is the upgrade to your bathroom scale.
DexaFit doesn’t estimate from your outer shape. It’s a low-dose X-ray that directly measures what’s inside you. Real bone density, a T-score your doctor could actually use. Real fat distribution instead of a very good prediction.
The radiation is minimal, less than a few hours of everyday background exposure, nowhere close to something like a chest X-ray. Worth knowing honestly, not something to be nervous about.
Why we tell people to do both
Styku is free for current PT clients, and free the first time for everyone. It’s what gets you moving. Come back every few months, scan again, and actually watch the number change instead of guessing.
DexaFit is what confirms it. Once a year, maybe twice. The real numbers behind the estimate.
Step one shows you the direction. Step two proves you’re actually going there.
Your first Styku scan is complimentary. Book yours at 618-581-0193 or vst.bz/scan. Ask us about DexaFit Edwardsville discount codes when you’re ready for step two.
